First occupied in 1974, Our Co-op consists of 74 units ranging from 1 bedroom to 4 bedrooms in size. We are located on over 7 acres of land in beautiful Victoria West. Each unit comes with washer and dryer hook-ups, a yard and covered parking. We have a playground, asphalt play area and a large field for sports and recreation. Click here for a map of our location.

At our Annual General Meeting we hold elections for our Board of Directors. This is where members get a chance to vote for the people they feel will make the best decisions for our non-profit business and our homes. Every member has a vote, and a voice, in the decision making at our Co-op.

Now that you know a little about our co-op, it’s time to ask yourself “Is Co-op living for me?” A lot of general questions about co-ops can be answered through the Co-operative Housing Federation of BC (CHFBC) website.

Pioneer Housing Co-operative has a vacancy of a multi-level, 3 bedroom unit. Our wonderful volunteer based co-operative community is located in Vic West on the border of Esquimalt. 3-bedroom units are typically offered to families.

We are seeking applicants who demonstrate a strong understanding of co-operative principles, along with a genuine commitment to community involvement.

Eligibility:

• Appropriate size of family (adult or couple with 2 or more dependants)
• Able to complete an application before May 26 midnight PST
• Able to participate in a panel interview on June 6 or 7
• Able to provide reference (work and volunteer) 
• Volunteer experience 
• Able to move in July 1, 2026
• Able to pass a credit check
• Subsidies are not available

Unit features:

• Multi-level home with a front and back yard
• 1 covered parking space
• Pet-friendly though no exotic pets permitted (e.g., parrots or large reptiles)
• No smoking in the unit or on co-op property
• Unit is near the co-op playground and dog park

Financial details:

• Current monthly housing charge: $1216
• Share purchase: approximately $4300 (due upon acceptance)

Move-In Date: July 1, 2026

All interviews will happen on June 6 and 7 between 10am – 4pm.
